The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has made an official statement regarding the suspension of the issuance of US immigration visas. This information was announced on January 14, 2025, during a meeting between the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the USA, A. Moldogaziev, and D. Pommerheim, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia.
According to the statement from American authorities, this measure affects citizens of 75 countries, including Kyrgyzstan, and pertains exclusively to immigration visas.
It is important to note that non-immigrant visas, such as tourist, business, and student visas, are not subject to these restrictions.
The suspension will begin on January 21, 2026, and will last until the review of immigration visa issuance procedures is completed. Currently, the acceptance of applications and interviews continue, but final decisions on them will be made only after this period.
Nevertheless, previously issued visas and immigration documents remain valid.
Kyrgyz citizens are advised to take this information into account when planning their travels and to follow updates through the official channels of the US Department of State.
