The area of this district is 14 thousand square kilometers. To the east, it borders the Ak-Suu District, to the southeast — China, to the southwest — the Naryn Region, and to the west — the Ton District.
Previously, the Jetty-Oguz District was divided into 13 rural administrations, which included: Ak-Dobon, Ak-Shiyrak, Barskoon, Darkhan, Jargyldak, Jetty-Oguz, Yrdyk, Lipen, Orgochor, Kyzyl-Suu, Aldashev, Svetlopolyana, and Tamga.
In 2024, as part of the administrative-territorial reform, the number of rural administrations was reduced to five:
- the rural administration of Jetty-Oguz, which combines Jetty-Oguz, Yrdyk, and Lipenka, with its administrative center in the village of Jetty-Oguz;
- the rural administration of Orgochor, including Orgochor, Ak-Dobo, Svetlaya Polyana, and Ak-Shiyrak, with its center in the village of Orgochor;
- the rural administration of Kyzyl-Suu, uniting Kyzyl-Suu and Saruu, with its administrative center in the village of Kyzyl-Suu;
- the rural administration of Jargyldak, consisting of Darkhan and Jargyldak, with its center in the village of Darkhan;
- the rural administration of Barskoon, which includes Barskoon and Tamga, with its administrative center in the village of Barskoon.
The village of Kyzyl-Suu is the administrative center of the district.
According to the latest census conducted in 2023, the population of the Jetty-Oguz District is 99,055 people, making it the most densely populated district in the Issyk-Kul Region.
The district has been led by 15 akims, the last of whom was Murataly Tagaev. At the end of March 2023, he was appointed akim of the Lenin District of Bishkek, and is currently the director of the Forest Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov dated April 29, 2023, the new akim of the Jetty-Oguz District is Ermek Ibragimovich Bakhaudinov.
