In the village of Kozhomkul (formerly Voenno-Antonovka), located in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region, local residents took decisive action to protect the environment. They forced a man who illegally dumped garbage in an unauthorized place to return all the waste back to his truck.

According to residents' accounts, the problem of unauthorized dumping near Kozhomkul has existed for several years. Locals expressed dissatisfaction due to the proximity of the landfill to residential houses, frequent waste fires, and toxic smoke that depressed the atmosphere. Authorities closed the landfill a month ago, and garbage collection has been organized to the city landfill in Bishkek. Currently, cleanup and reclamation work is being carried out on the former site.

Despite the imposed restrictions and active landscaping efforts, some citizens continue to dump waste in this area. "The landfill was closed a month ago, garbage is now taken to Bishkek, and the land is being cleaned. Nevertheless, some residents still bring garbage here in Hyundai Porter trucks. We caught one of these offenders at the scene. United, the locals forced him to return all the trash back to the truck and clean the area," eyewitnesses reported.

The residents of Kozhomkul intend to continue their fight against attempts to pollute in order to resolve the long-standing environmental issue in their village.
