The Ministry of Health is considering the possibility of transitioning from the classification of rare diseases according to ICD-10 to the new version ICD-11. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee held on February 10, where issues concerning the health of children with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy were discussed.

During the meeting, Deputy Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva inquired about which classification is currently used for rare diseases. The Deputy Minister explained that ICD-10 is currently in use.

Sadyrbaeva noted that ICD-11 has greater functionality, which could facilitate the inclusion process: more detailed recording of children's diagnoses allows educational institutions to better understand the individual characteristics of students and organize the educational process accordingly. The deputy also asked about plans for transitioning to the new classification.

The First Deputy Minister responded that the transition to ICD-11 is already being carried out in stages.
