Measures to Strengthen Health and Safety of Schoolchildren Discussed in Bishkek
As reported by the press service of the city administration, the seminar was part of a city-wide month aimed at instilling knowledge and skills for a healthy lifestyle among schoolchildren. Within this framework, various sanitary and educational activities are being conducted in educational institutions in the capital, such as class hours, lectures, discussions, and the demonstration of video materials for students and their parents.
Child protection inspectors and medical specialists are actively involved in the activities. They are working on the implementation of the law "On the Protection of Citizens' Health from the Consequences of Tobacco, Nicotine, and Exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke and Aerosol." Special attention is given to explaining the ban on the use of tobacco and other smoking products, including nasvay, vapes, hookahs, and electronic nicotine delivery systems.
Special classes on the topics "Prevention of Harmful Habits and Formation of Healthy Lifestyle Skills" and "Why Athletes Don't Smoke" are held for elementary and middle school students. Students also receive information on the prevention of socially significant diseases such as diabetes, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, mental and behavioral disorders, as well as HIV infection.
