In February 2023, a month dedicated to men's health called "Be Responsible!" will begin in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Health reports that this initiative focuses on identifying risk factors for non-communicable diseases in men over 18 years old.

During the month, men are strongly encouraged to visit local primary healthcare facilities, such as family medicine centers, general practitioner practices, and outpatient clinics, for preventive examinations and consultations.

According to data from 2025, more than 973 thousand men across the country underwent preventive screening for non-communicable diseases. Of these, 119.6 thousand (12% of the total) were found to have elevated blood pressure, 49.6 thousand (5%) were recorded as having a high risk of cardiovascular diseases, and about 60.8 thousand men (6%) faced a high risk of developing diabetes.

In 2025, 15,388 individuals were newly registered with a diagnosis of arterial hypertension and 7,364 with diabetes. Cardiovascular diseases were the cause of 16,644 deaths among the adult population of the country that year.

The men's health month has been held since 2019 as part of the project "Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan," which is funded by Switzerland and implemented annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.

Non-communicable diseases include chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, respiratory diseases, and diabetes. The main risk factors include poor nutrition, smoking, alcohol abuse, and low levels of physical activity.

The nationwide project aims to improve the health of the population by developing primary healthcare and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
