As of today, 18 new cases of HIV infection have been identified in the Naryn region, three of which involve foreign citizens.

According to information presented at the regional board meeting, the first case of AIDS was recorded in the region in 2005. Since then, 316 patients have been registered, of which 80, unfortunately, have passed away. Among people living with HIV, 64.3% are men and 36% are women.

Since August of this year, the Naryn Regional Center for the Control of Viral Hepatitis and HIV has been conducting preventive examinations using a mobile clinic in areas such as Ak-Tal, Jumgal, Kochkor, and Naryn. A total of 6,486 people were examined. The rapid tests for HIV, viral hepatitis B and C, as well as sexually transmitted infections, did not reveal any new cases of HIV among those tested.

However, 54 individuals were found to have viral hepatitis B, 44 had viral hepatitis C, and 6 had syphilis. These patients were referred to an infectious disease specialist and a dermatologist-venereologist for further examination and treatment.

As part of the mobile clinic's work, a family doctor, obstetrician-gynecologist, mammologist, ultrasound doctor, and laboratory technician were involved. Residents of the area received consultations and treatment recommendations," the press release states.
