On February 26, another free kidney transplant was performed at the National Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood (NCPMC).

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the patient was a man born in 1981, who had been on chronic hemodialysis since 2018. His biological brother was the donor. Both patients are feeling well and are under medical supervision.

Since the start of the kidney transplant program at NCPMC in 2018, 38 operations have been performed on a budgetary basis, with a total of 81 operations conducted. The center has implemented an immunological testing methodology that includes determining histocompatibility using the HLA system and cross-matching tests. This improves the safety of the operations and contributes to more successful long-term treatment outcomes.

Currently, about 200 patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease are on the waiting list for a transplant. Specialists at the center are ready to provide consultations and prepare them for surgery.
