On December 18, Ambassador Richard Buangan shared his impressions of the traditional dinner held in honor of Thanksgiving, noting that he was pleased to host members of the Great State Khural. He reported this on his page on X, writing.
“The United States remains committed to supporting multiparty democracy in Mongolia and engaging with the parliament to ensure the security and economic well-being of both countries,” he noted.
Prominent politicians present at the Thanksgiving dinner included Deputy Prime Minister Gankhuyag Khassuur and members of parliament: Tsogtbaatar Damdin, Amarsaihan Sainbuyan, Undraa Agvaanluvsan, Tsogtbaatar Davaa, and others.
The traditional Thanksgiving feast includes not only stuffed roasted turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, but also green bean casserole and pumpkin pie for dessert. This holiday symbolizes autumn and the abundance of the harvest, and the dishes are often prepared with local ingredients such as corn and sweet potatoes.
