During a conversation with journalists, Zelensky noted that tough measures could be an effective way to pressure Moscow. He believes that the American authorities have the necessary tools, and if Ukraine becomes a priority for them, they can find suitable ways to pressure Russia. “Here’s an example with Maduro. The operation was carried out, and the result is visible to the whole world. Let them do something similar with Kadyrov. Perhaps then Putin will start to think,” he added.
In response to these words, Kadyrov characterized Zelensky's call as an attempt by the Ukrainian leadership to “disrupt the peace process.” In his Telegram channel, he noted that the Ukrainian president, by suggesting that the U.S. kidnap him, showed cowardice: “He hints that he would prefer to stay on the sidelines and watch as his enemy, the formidable Ramzan Kadyrov, is punished by someone else.”
Kadyrov also criticized Zelensky for asking Americans for help, claiming that it is humiliating: “If you had a drop of courage, you would understand how offensive your words are.” He added that “the enemy may enter our republic, but they will not be able to leave.”
