According to Major General Sören Andersen, who heads the Danish Joint Arctic Command in Greenland, the country's military is focused on preventing potential Russian activity rather than defending against possible threats from the United States. This statement was made in an interview cited by RBC with reference to Reuters.

Andersen clarified that there are currently no Chinese or Russian ships near Greenland; however, one Russian research vessel was located 310 nautical miles (approximately 574 km) away.

"This is the closest vessel," he emphasized, adding that NATO allies have a good understanding of the current situation in the region.

The Major General also predicted an increase in Russian activity in the waters around Greenland in the coming years and reported Denmark's intention to enhance its military presence in the Arctic.

"We need to start preparing and strengthening our presence in the Arctic to protect NATO's northern borders," he noted.

Andersen also dismissed the likelihood of conflict between NATO allies and emphasized that Denmark is working in close coordination with the alliance, continuing regular cooperation with American military forces.
