According to the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia, on Sunday, the snow cover reached almost 90% of the country's territory, with a thickness of up to 45 cm.

“At least nine out of 21 Mongolian aimags are facing extremely harsh winter conditions known as 'dzud,'” reports the meteorological agency.

Additionally, the report mentions that 16 aimags are experiencing conditions approaching dzud.

The term dzud in Mongolia refers to severe winter conditions when a significant number of livestock may perish due to freezing or because snow covers the pastures.

Mongolia is known for its harsh continental climate, characterized by long cold winters and short summer periods.
