Ukraine offered Russia to conclude an 'energy truce,' - Zelensky

In his address recorded on April 6, Zelensky noted: “If Russia agrees to stop attacks on our energy infrastructure, we are also ready to respond in kind. This proposal has already been conveyed to the Russian side through American intermediaries.”

He emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are working to limit Russia's ability to benefit from the crisis in the oil sector caused by the conflict between the USA and Israel with Iran.

“All the revenue that Russia receives from rising oil prices goes to fund the war. This is their priority, which seems to have remained unchanged. Therefore, every effort we make to limit their oil exports is the right one,” the President of Ukraine noted.

Zelensky also mentioned that Ukraine had previously offered Russia to declare a truce in honor of Easter. “However, for them, all times are equal, and there is nothing sacred for them,” he added.

It is worth noting that in the winter of 2026, at the request of then-President Donald Trump, Russia suspended attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities for four days—from January 29 to February 1.

Recently, Ukraine has significantly intensified its strikes on oil facilities in Russia, including multiple attacks on the Ust-Luga port in the Leningrad region and the largest oil transshipment terminal in Novorossiysk.
