The agency noted that in the southern and western regions of the country, flood threats have weakened; however, the peak of flooding is currently observed in the Akmolinsk region. The North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions remain under control, as reported in the press release from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
At the moment, activities to prevent flooding are ongoing, and aerial surveys of areas at risk of flooding are being conducted to assess the situation.
According to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the restoration of the "Shoptykol" dam in the Akmolinsk region has been completed, and there is no threat to the local population. At the same time, in the Astrakhan district, near the village of Stary Koluton, a decision was made to preemptively open the roadway due to intensified snowmelt and rising water levels in the Koluton River to prevent overflow.
As a result of these measures, the village of Stary Koluton temporarily has no transport communication. However, there is no threat to the residents. To ensure safety, a duty service has been organized, and the population has been supplied with necessary reserves of medicines, food, and fuel, as assured by the ministry.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also reports the completion of anti-flood measures in the East Kazakhstan region. In the North Kazakhstan region, constant monitoring of the flood situation is being carried out, and in the Kostanay region, no flooding has been recorded since the beginning of the flood season, with water levels not exceeding critical values. In the Abay region, the active phase of flooding has ended, the situation remains stable, and the snow cover is about 8% of the territory, mainly in mountainous areas. The active phase of flooding has also ended in the Karaganda region, and the situation there is also stable.
