According to the security service, Lyubomir Korba, acting as the executor of the assassination, was working under the direction of the SBU. It is claimed that the Ukrainian security service, with the support of Polish colleagues, recruited Korba in 2025. He underwent training at a training ground in Kyiv and was sent to Russia last August to observe high-ranking military officials.
The FSB reports that the pistol used in the assassination was obtained by Korba from a stash organized by Ukrainian special services in the Moscow region. He was promised a reward of 30 thousand dollars for completing the mission.
The incident involving the assassination attempt on the general occurred on the morning of February 6. The assassin was waiting for Vladimir Alekseev on the landing of his house on Volokolamsk Highway and fired multiple shots at him. The general sustained injuries to his limbs, abdomen, and chest, resulting in significant blood loss, and he was urgently taken to intensive care.
