A new decision has been made by the Bishkek City Court regarding the case of journalist Kanyshai Mamyrkulova, resulting in a reduction of her probation period. This was reported by human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova in her post.

During the consideration of the case, Mamyrkulova was acquitted under Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which pertains to inciting interregional hostility, but was found guilty under Article 278, Part 3, concerning calls for mass riots. As a result, her probation period was reduced to three years.

Kanyshai Mamyrkulova was detained on March 20, 2025. The investigation claimed that she disseminated false information about the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which could have led to destabilization in the country. Earlier, the Main Internal Affairs Directorate reported that a forensic linguistic examination confirmed the presence of calls for violence, which served as the basis for initiating a criminal case.

In July 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Bishkek issued a verdict, sentencing Mamyrkulova to six years of imprisonment with probation supervision for four years. During this time, she was prohibited from leaving her home from 10 PM to 6 AM and from posting messages on social media. Meanwhile, the prosecution demanded an eight-year prison sentence for her.
