The Enforcement Service of the General Prosecutor's Office reported a sentence of two years of imprisonment for a man evading alimony payments.

According to information received from the agency, the Batken District Court issued a ruling on July 3, 2017, which stated that the debtor named J.u.S. was required to pay 25% of his income to J.k.S. from April 24, 2017, until the child reaches the age of 18. Despite being notified of the court ruling, the debtor failed to fulfill his obligations. As of September 1, 2025, the amount of alimony arrears reached 501,821 soms.

A submission regarding the debtor's actions was sent to the Batken City Department of Internal Affairs, requesting a legal assessment. As a result, he was charged under part 2 of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning parents evading the maintenance of children. The case was referred to the Batken District Court for consideration.

On October 22, 2025, the Batken District Court found citizen A.u.J. guilty and imposed a two-year probationary supervision. However, the victim's side disagreed with this decision and filed an appeal. Consequently, on February 2, 2026, the Batken Regional Court overturned the first-instance verdict, finding debtor A.u.J. guilty under part 2 of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment. The debtor was immediately arrested in the courtroom.
