In the Batken region, a court sentenced a man who had been evading alimony payments since 2017. His prison term is two years. This became known from a statement by the Judicial Enforcement Service under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the information, in July 2017, the Batken District Court ordered the citizen to pay a quarter of his income for the maintenance of his child until the child reaches adulthood. Despite numerous warnings from the judicial enforcement officers, he continued to ignore the court's decision.

As of September 1, 2025, his alimony debt exceeded 501,000 soms.

Initially, in October 2025, the man was placed under probation supervision for two years; however, this decision was appealed by the aggrieved party.

As a result of the appeal review, the Batken Regional Court overturned the previous decision on February 2 and sentenced the debtor to two years of imprisonment, taking him into custody directly in the courtroom.

The Judicial Enforcement Service emphasized that evading alimony is a criminal offense.

According to the Judicial Department of the Kyrgyz Republic, there are about 60,000 alimony cases in the republic, with only about 2% of divorced parents regularly fulfilling their alimony payment obligations.
