A suspect in a series of frauds has been detained in Karakol


A man suspected of committing a series of fraudulent actions has been detained in Karakol. This was reported by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region.

The investigation was initiated following a complaint from a resident of Karakol, born in 1973. She stated that an unknown person, posing as a buyer, deceitfully took a gold necklace worth 112,500 soms from her daughter, asking to provide it "on loan," after which he disappeared.

The report was registered in the information log of the Karakol City Police Department, and a preliminary investigation was soon initiated. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that similar crimes had occurred previously:

On November 21, 2021, in a jewelry pavilion in Karakol, a man of Asian appearance deceived a minor saleswoman and took two gold bracelets worth a total of 40,000 soms.

On May 4, 2023, one of the residents of Karakol, born in 1979, reported that an unknown person deceitfully took gold earrings worth 21,000 soms.

Additionally, on January 12, 2026, a resident of the Ak-Suu district, born in 1995, reported that on December 31, 2025, an unknown person, having gained his trust, received meat worth 11,600 soms and did not pay for it.

Criminal cases have been initiated on all the mentioned facts under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning fraud.

The suspect was detained on February 12, 2026, in Bishkek. He turned out to be a 1993-born resident of the city of Cholpon-Ata. The court has ordered his arrest for one month.

During the interrogation, the detainee fully admitted his guilt in all four episodes. Investigative actions are ongoing.
