According to aviation authorities, the plane went off the runway and crashed into a busy highway, after which it was destroyed and caught fire. The wreckage of the aircraft damaged several cars that were on the road at the time of the accident.
The plane was carrying new banknotes for the Central Bank of Bolivia, and after the crash, the bills scattered across the area. Local residents began to collect the money, prompting police intervention, who used tear gas to disperse the crowd, according to the TV channel.
The head of the Central Bank of Bolivia, David Espinoza, later reported that all banknotes on board the crashed plane are invalid and cannot be used for transactions.
According to the latest information, seven out of eight crew members survived, as reported by the local fire service.
