The military prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case based on a statement from an officer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who points to facts of extortion by Urmatbek Shamyurkanov, the former head of this agency. This was reported by the prosecutor's office press service.

According to the supervisory authority, an investigation is currently underway, aimed at providing a legal assessment of the actions of all individuals involved in this case. In particular, the facts of possible extortion of funds from a ministry employee are being examined.

It was recently revealed that Urmatbek Shamyurkanov was relieved of his position, where he had worked for less than a month.

According to information from the presidential administration, the dismissal occurred based on the materials of an investigation concerning possible bribery when he held the position of deputy minister of emergency situations.

The investigative authorities continue to clarify all the details of the incident.

Urmatbek Shamyurkanov previously held the position of deputy minister of emergency situations and was then appointed as the head of the agency. However, shortly after his appointment, accusations began to emerge against him regarding possible corrupt actions. In light of these accusations, he was removed from office, and the materials of the case were forwarded to the military prosecutor's office.

If the investigation confirms the facts of extortion or bribery, the guilty party may face a prison sentence of 10 to 12 years, as well as confiscation of property and a ban on holding public office according to the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
