Rifle with a Silencer and Marijuana: A Villager Detained in the Kemin District

Police officers conducted an operation in the village of Tort-Kul, located in the Kemin district, where a 56-year-old man was detained on suspicion of illegal trafficking in weapons and drugs. During a search carried out at his temporary residence, operatives found both an arsenal of weapons and supplies of marijuana, as reported by the press center of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui region.

Investigative actions revealed that the detainee, a citizen D.N. born in 1970, illegally stored a rifled TOZ-17 rifle of 5.6 mm caliber with a mounted silencer and scope. In addition, two smoothbore shotguns were seized: the "IZH-18M" model of 12 caliber and the "Mauser 98" model of 20 caliber. More than 200 cartridges of various calibers were also found during the search.



According to the results of the examination, the seized weapons were found to be functional and suitable for use.

Also, during the search, narcotic substances were found: the weight of the marijuana amounted to 281.328 grams, as well as two portions of hashish weighing about 0.9 grams.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against D.N. under Articles 267 "Illegal Trafficking in Weapons" and 283 "Illegal Manufacture of Drugs without the Purpose of Sale" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there has been a 12 percent increase in the amount of confiscated firearms in the Chui region in 2025.
