“This is a significant event, as the second hydro unit has undergone a major overhaul and complete equipment replacement for the first time since the station was commissioned in 1962. During the reconstruction, key components of both the turbine and the generator were replaced. The cooling systems, oil pressure systems, and automatic systems have also been updated to meet modern standards,” the official statement said.
In addition, the capacity of the second hydro unit has increased by 9 megawatts. The modernization work was carried out with the participation of the Chinese company CNEEC as the general contractor.
