The patrol service of the police has urged taxi drivers to obtain licenses for their activities by February 1, 2026. This is important for legalizing their work and increasing safety on the roads.
Starting from February 1, the employees of the UPSM will begin conducting raids aimed at identifying drivers transporting passengers without the necessary licenses. Legal measures will be taken against violators.
The agency noted that each driver must obtain licensing in advance to meet the established requirements. This condition is key to ensuring passenger safety on the road.
Information
To obtain a license for passenger transportation by cars (taxis) intended for intercity trips (more than 60 kilometers), as well as for urban and suburban trips (no more than 60 kilometers), a specific set of documents must be provided.
For legal entities:
- copy of the mandatory civil liability insurance contract for passengers;
- documents confirming the presence of a production and technical base (inspection pit for pre-trip technical inspection, room for medical examination of drivers, classroom for safety instruction on passenger transportation);
- copies of documents confirming the qualifications of responsible specialists (diplomas, certificates);
- information about the availability of vehicles;
- copies of orders appointing specialists (employment contract).
The transportation license is valid for one calendar year.
For individuals:
- copy of the vehicle registration certificate and power of attorney for management;
- copy of the technical inspection act;
- copy of the mandatory insurance contract;
- copy of the contract with a legal or natural person that has a base for medical and technical inspections;
- copy of the driver's license of the appropriate category with at least three years of driving experience;
- medical certificate of health status;
- certificate of no criminal record.
For licensing taxis with no more than four passenger seats (excluding the driver's seat), a specific set of documents must also be provided.
For legal entities:
- copy of the mandatory insurance contract;
- information about the availability of vehicles;
- copies of documents confirming the qualifications of specialists;
- copies of orders appointing specialists.
For individuals:
- copy of the registration certificate and power of attorney for management;
- copy of the technical inspection act;
- copy of the mandatory insurance contract;
- copy of the driver's license with at least three years of driving experience;
- medical certificate;
- certificate of no criminal record.
It is important to note that drivers of right-hand drive vehicles will not be able to obtain a license to work in taxis.
