Kulpunay Toktobekova, who lives in Tokmok, has become the new heroine of the "Unusual Names" column.

She was born and raised in the village of Kalygul in the Chui region. In her family, she is the seventh of eight children. Currently, the young woman is not married.

Kulpunay graduated from T. Onolbaev School, located in Kalygul.
“I am currently studying at a medical college. I have been interested in music and dance since childhood. At the moment, I perform on various stages in Tokmok. Thanks to my passion for dance, I fulfilled a childhood dream and have been teaching dance in my studio for three years,” she shared.
Kulpunay also expressed her ambitions—she aims to perform on major stages and achieve significant success. In her free time, she actively manages her social media pages and participates in charitable events.

Speaking about her name, she added:

“My name is indeed unusual. ‘Kulpunay’ is rarely encountered. My father chose it with the hope that I would be ‘sweet and lucky like a strawberry.’ Some cannot pronounce my name correctly and call me Cholponay. Many joke and refer to me as ‘Raspberry.’
