From February 24 to 28, traffic will be temporarily restricted on eight sections of the Bishkek—Osh highway. This is due to the implementation of measures for the controlled release of snow masses.

As reported by the Emergency Situations Department for the Jalal-Abad region, these measures are being taken in areas with increased avalanche danger.

“Snow release operations are being conducted on the section of the road from the 198th to the 255th kilometer, which is located within the Jalal-Abad region. For these purposes, a special artillery unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic is involved, as well as employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the hydrometeorological service, the road patrol service, and emergency medical services. During the specified period, the road will be periodically closed,” the department added.

In addition, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned about the potential for avalanches in the mountainous areas of Kyrgyzstan on such highways as Bishkek—Osh, Myrzake—Kara-Kulja—Alaikuu, Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kyya, Krasnaya Gorka—Akhtash, Sary-Tash—Daroot-Korgon—Karamyk, Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart, Aral—Min-Kush, Aral—Suusamyr, Balikchy—Kazaraman—Jalal-Abad, and Karakol—Enilchek.
