Storm Warning. Avalanche Risk Expected in Mountain Areas

From January 15 to 18, heavy precipitation is forecasted in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan, which may lead to avalanches and the formation of snow drifts. Icy conditions are also expected on the roads. This information is provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Avalanches may occur on the following sections of the roads:

— Bishkek — Osh: 121-138 km (Tоо-Ashuu Pass), 198-255 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge);

— Ala-Buka — Kanysh-Kiya: 68-74 km, 86-101 km (Chapchyma Pass);

— Krasnaya Gorka — Ak-Tash: 0-3 km;

— Myrzake — Kara-Kuldja — Alaykuu: 65-110 km;

— Karakol — Enilchek: 45-90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass);

— Balikchi — Kazarman — Manas: 326-349 km (Kok-Art Pass).

The Ministry reminds drivers of the importance of maintaining a distance of 500 meters between vehicles. Additionally, they strongly recommend keeping up with current information and strictly adhering to safety rules. Drivers are urged to avoid trips whenever possible and exercise particular caution due to the risk of avalanches.
