An emergency avalanche warning for the passes of the country has been issued by the Hydrometeorological Service of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzgidromet). The message states that from December 20 to 22, precipitation is expected in the mountainous areas, which may lead to avalanches.
The most risky sections of the roads include:
- Töö-Ashuu pass on 121–138 km of the Bishkek – Osh highway;
- Ala-Bel pass and Chychkan gorge on 198–255 km of the Bishkek – Osh highway;
- Chapchyma pass on 68–74 and 86–101 km of the Ala-Buka – Kanysh-Kyya road;
- Red Hill – Ak-Tash road on 0–3 km;
- Myryza-Ake – Kara-Kulja – Alaykuu road on 65–110 km;
- Chon-Ashuu pass on 45–90 km of the Karakol – Enilchek highway;
- Kok-Art pass on 326–349 km of the Balykchy – Kazarman – Jalal-Abad highway.
