Recep Tayyip Erdoğan initiates the "Turān" project
The Turkish publication Resmî Gazete reports that Turkey aims to become a center for the entire Turkic community.
The country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has taken an important step towards implementing the initiative of the Union of Turkic States, known as "Turān".
On October 10, 2025, Resmî Gazete published regulation decree No. 10476, which introduces a new legal norm. According to this decree, individuals of Turkic descent will no longer be considered foreigners in Turkey.
According to the new regulation:
- Citizens and representatives of Turkic peoples (including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, East Turkestan, Ahıska, Gagauzia, Crimea, and others) will no longer be classified as foreigners.
- The definition of "foreigner" will no longer apply to individuals of Turkic descent.
- Instead, there will be official recognition, brotherhood, and the creation of a unified national space.
In practice, this implies:
- Simplified access to employment without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Recognition of diplomas and qualifications obtained abroad.
- The possibility of employment in public institutions and private companies.
- Establishment of official procedures for determining Turkic descent, as stated in the document.
Thus, as emphasized by Resmî Gazete, Turkey is becoming a true home for the entire Turkic world.
