The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Moscow, organized by the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“We are concluding the Russian presidency in the council, aimed at developing trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation within the SCO. I thank all states for their cooperation and constructive approach. We have a busy agenda today, so I propose we start the discussion immediately,” Mishustin noted at the meeting in a narrow circle.
This meeting will be the final event within the framework of the Russian presidency in the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO for 2024-2025. The main topics of discussion will be key issues concerning the strengthening of interconnections in various areas within the SCO.
According to information from the Russian government, the heads of government plan to discuss measures for implementing the SCO Development Strategy until 2035, particularly in the context of expanding trade, economic, and cultural ties.
The meeting will pay special attention to issues of cooperation in areas such as the digital economy, energy, green industry, artificial intelligence, science and innovation, education, culture, tourism, healthcare, sports, and exchanges among youth.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization unites ten countries: Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
