On March 21, 1950, a joint decision was made at the presidium of the Kyrgyz Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Cultural and Educational Workers in collaboration with the Republican Committee for Cultural and Educational Institutions under the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyz SSR to hold Children's Book Week, and a number of events were planned and communicated to local trade union committees.
The main focus during Children's Book Week was on enhancing educational work among children, developing their reading culture and love for books, increasing public attention to children's reading issues, and organizing the book collections of children's libraries and children's sections in adult libraries.
In several children's libraries across the republic, book collections were organized, catalogs were created; book exhibitions, literary mornings, evenings, and meetings of children with writers and poets of Kyrgyzstan were organized.
The Frunze City Children's Library named after M.V. Frunze conducted significant work for Children's Book Week. A large book exhibition was organized, showcasing the best books from the library.
About 3,000 children visited the exhibition. Qualified consultations were provided for conducting reviews of the exhibition. A reader's conference was held at the library on the topic: "Labor is the source of all joys." During Children's Book Week, 30 discussions on the significance of books were held.
At the "Ala-Too" cinema, the State Library named after N.G. Chernyshovsky organized a large book exhibition based on the mandatory copy received. Qualified consultants were allocated for conducting reviews of this exhibition. The exhibition was attended by 7,000 children.
A solemn meeting of party, Soviet, Komsomol, and trade union organizations dedicated to Children's Book Week was held at the Kyrgyz State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Lenin. A report was made on the topic: "Books are your best friends." Writers and poets of Kyrgyzstan spoke. 800 children were present.
Similar meetings were held at the Republican Puppet Theater, at the Ministry of Communications club...
