Almaz Tulekeyev, head of the state film center "Kyrgyzfilm," stated that the interaction between the Kyrgyz Republic and Russia in the field of cinema traditionally has a high level.
At the end of November, he plans to travel to Moscow, where he will participate in an international film market.
“We aim to increase the distribution of Kyrgyz films in Russia. The agenda includes meetings with various officials and production studios,” Tulekeyev noted.
According to him, many events in the field of cinema are planned for next year, including festivals, master classes, and film markets. The Kyrgyz side will actively participate in these events both in Russia and by inviting Russian colleagues to Kyrgyzstan.
Regarding joint projects, the director of "Kyrgyzfilm" mentioned two feature films for which preparations for filming are currently underway, including in Moscow.
“The first project is the film ‘Jusup,’ dedicated to the famous statesman Jusup Abdrakhmanov. The second project will be dedicated to the memory of Cholponbay Tuleberdiev, a Hero of the Soviet Union. Preliminary negotiations are currently ongoing, and filming may take place in both Russia and Belarus,” he said.
Tulekeyev also emphasized that both films are being created under a state order, with funding provided by the government. Additionally, there are a number of private initiatives in this area.
“I have learned that one of the private production studios is producing a film in Bishkek on behalf of the Russian streaming platform ‘KinoPoisk,’” he added.
