Asankanov Abylabek Asankanovich (1954), Doctor of Historical Sciences (1993), Professor (1994), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (2000), Laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of Science and Technology (2002).Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Doskulu, Jumgal District, Naryn Region. Graduated from KSU (1977), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1984).
Worked as a teacher in secondary school, lecturer at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, head of the department at KSU, senior researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Moscow), head of the department, dean, professor at KGNU, director of the business project "Muras" under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, director of the Center for Kyrgyz Studies, head of the social policy department of the President's Administration, and since 2001 - rector of the I. Arabaev Kyrgyz State University of Education.
Specialist in the field of ethnology. Published more than 100 scientific works, including 4 monographs and 3 textbooks. Under his supervision, 5 candidate dissertations have been defended.
