The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his plans to file a lawsuit against the British broadcasting corporation BBC. He made this statement, pointing out that his speech was edited in the program "Panorama." According to Reuters, the lawsuit is likely to be filed next week.

Trump expects to receive compensation from the BBC in the range of $1 to $5 billion.

“I feel I have to do this, as they even admitted that they deceived. They changed what I said,” he commented on his position.

It was previously reported that in October 2024, just a week before the U.S. presidential elections, an episode of the program "Panorama" aired on the BBC. This episode edited together fragments of two different speeches by Trump, creating a false impression that he was calling for violence during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Due to the scandal involving the manipulation of his speech, BBC Director-General Tim Davie and the head of the BBC News division, Deborah Turness, have resigned.
