- In Kyrgyzstan, 44 dairy processors with export licenses operate at only 60% of their capacity. This assessment is presented in the IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) report.

The lack of quality raw milk has become the main reason for the low utilization of production facilities, the fund notes. This creates opportunities for improving the milk collection process at the level of rural settlements, as well as for developing cold logistics systems and creating integrated farms managed by cooperatives.

According to IFAD estimates, a significant portion of raw milk is used by the farmers themselves, a certain share is processed at home (for example, into ayran, cottage cheese, and kurut) and sold in markets, while the remaining portion is processed at industrial enterprises.

By the end of 2024, the country produced 1.8 million tons of raw milk, of which about 50% came from peasant and personal subsidiary farms.
