He emphasized that the unique ecosystem and natural resources of Issyk-Kul require special attention.
“Since 1854, the water level in this lake has dropped by almost 14 meters, and the volume of water has decreased to 85 billion cubic meters. The number of rivers flowing into the lake has decreased by more than three times: in the 1950s and 1960s, about 100-110 rivers flowed into the lake, while now their number is only 30-35. If this trend continues, the region will face serious ecological and socio-economic problems. The government is taking the necessary measures and implementing projects to increase the inflow of water into the lake, including the construction of new channels and hydraulic structures,” he added.
