Measures are being developed in Kyrgyzstan for the sustainable development of fish production and aquaculture, as well as for attracting investments, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

As part of these initiatives, a phased introduction of a system for the identification and traceability of all fish products is planned, covering all stages—from spawning to the finished product.

Currently, the following steps have been implemented:

• control over stocking and movement of fish, including eggs and fry, has been organized;

• a traceability system for fish products has been established;

• identification of fish farms has been conducted, and data has been entered into the Information System for Identification and Tracking of Animals (IS ITOZ).

The full implementation of fish movement control is planned for 2026–2027 using the IS ITOZ.

Each element of the system will be:

• developed in stages;

• tested in a trial mode;

• piloted in selected regions;

• and only then implemented nationwide.

These activities are carried out by the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Service as part of the project "Enhancing the Safety of Animal-Origin Food by Creating a Comprehensive Intelligent System for Identification and Tracking of Animals in the Kyrgyz Republic," funded by the Republic of Korea, with completion in 2026.

Key point:

The Korean side has confirmed its readiness to develop a module for group identification of fish, which will ensure product traceability.

The implementation of this system will allow:

• to increase transparency in the industry;

• to reduce the volume of illegal product turnover;

• to create a more attractive investment climate;

• to guarantee the population access to quality and safe fish.
