In southern Kyrgyzstan, the implementation of an important hydropower project is starting: the Cabinet of Ministers and the company "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. LTD" have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which officially confirms their intentions to construct a cascade of small hydropower plants in the Osh region.
The planned generating capacities will be located on the Tar River in the Kara-Kulja district. The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov and head of the investment company Tsu Chenqi.
This project is of strategic importance for the region. According to preliminary estimates, the total capacity of the new complex will be 200 MW. The investor, ready to invest about 300 million US dollars, is preparing to implement this large-scale project.
In the very near future, specialists will conduct detailed surveys in challenging mountainous conditions, after which active construction of the energy infrastructure will begin. The opening of the cascade of hydropower plants on the Tar River will not only help address the electricity shortage in the southern regions but will also create hundreds of jobs both during the construction process and in the operation of the new facilities.
