The rise in prices is caused by the actions of intermediaries
Over the past week, in several regions of Kyrgyzstan, the price of a dozen eggs has increased by 20 soms. This was reported by Oksana Goryanova, head of the analysis department of the Antimonopoly Service, in an interview for the radio.
The agency has begun an investigation in response to citizens' complaints.
“In Bishkek, the price of a dozen eggs has risen by about 10 soms, while in regions such as Osh and Batken, the increase has been more than 20 soms,” Goryanova noted.
Meetings held with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Poultry Farmers Association showed that the price increase is not related to the demands of producers.
“If there was any price increase at poultry farms, it was due to rising costs for vaccination, packaging, logistics, and partially for fuel and lubricants,” she added.
The most significant price increase is observed at the supply stage, where several intermediaries are often involved.
In this regard, the Poultry Farmers Association and poultry farms have been warned about the need to streamline pricing policies at the wholesale supply level.
