China plans to launch commercial 6G networks by 2030

At the recently concluded Zhongguancun Forum - 2026 in Beijing, experts discussed the future of sixth-generation mobile communication. The commercial launch of 6G in China is expected to take place by 2030. It is forecasted that by 2035, new smartphones and services will emerge on the market with capabilities exceeding those of existing 5G networks.

One of the key features of the 6G architecture will be its close integration with artificial intelligence technologies. Zhou Xu, a representative of the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, noted that every component of the network—from base stations to user devices—will be equipped with its own computing power. This will allow AI agents to be located not in remote data centers, but directly at routing nodes and in user devices, ensuring instant system response.

Unlike the terrestrial infrastructure of previous generations, 6G will become a global integrated environment. The new network will unite ground stations, maritime communications, aerial nodes, and space satellites into a single ecosystem. China has expressed its readiness for active international cooperation to develop open technological standards that ensure equal access to future communication capabilities for all countries.
