At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Deputy Sovetbek Rustambek uulu noted that many libraries in villages and ayil okmotu are essentially not functioning. People come to read but encounter closed doors.

Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev confirmed that there are indeed libraries in the villages; however, the ministry conducted an analysis and found that a number of libraries are not carrying out their activities, and librarians are only receiving salaries. In this regard, it is planned to merge such libraries with school libraries, where operations are organized more effectively.

Supporting the proposed initiative, Deputy Rustambek uulu noted that many libraries in the villages exist only formally, while school libraries are actively functioning.

He also raised the question of a possible salary increase for school librarians, as they perform their duties alongside teachers. The deputy suggested considering additional compensation for their work.

Deputy Minister of Finance Zhibek Duyisheva confirmed that salaries will be increased.
