The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan proposes to implement a new electricity payment scheme for 2025–2030

New amendments have been developed in Kyrgyzstan to the Instruction regarding the application of electricity tariffs. This document is part of the Medium-Term Tariff Policy covering the period from 2025 to 2030. It has been presented for public discussion and includes clarifications regarding the application of single-rate and differentiated tariffs, as well as expanding the list of consumers eligible for hourly tariffing.

One significant change is the expansion of the application of tariffs that depend on the time of day.

If previously such tariffs were only applicable to the population, now they will also be applied to charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as to industrial and commercial users with "smart meters." This innovation will allow organizations to manage their energy consumption more efficiently and reduce the load on the energy system during peak hours.
Additionally, the document updates the coefficients used to calculate the cost of electricity depending on time zones.

In particular, the night tariff has now increased from 0.5 to 0.75, while the day tariff has been reduced from 1.5 to 1.0. The peak hour coefficient remains at 2.0.

These changes are aimed at a more even distribution of the load and encouraging rational use of electricity.

For the population, an important condition remains: when switching to a differentiated tariff, the entire volume of consumption will be charged at the tariff set for exceeding the limit of 700 kWh, which will help avoid speculative use of the preferential tariff.
