The Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic has provided clarifications regarding the proposed changes to the medium-term tariff policy for electricity, which is in effect until 2030.
The agency confirmed that the implementation of differentiated tariffs will not be mandatory for enterprises.
Companies, including electric vehicle charging stations, will be able to switch to the new tariffs at their discretion.

“The forced implementation of new tariffs is not planned. Each company decides for itself whether this tariff suits it,” the ministry emphasized.
No changes are planned for the population: the possibility of applying differentiated tariffs for this category has already been established and remains unchanged.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that switching to new tariffs may be beneficial if electricity consumption is shifted to nighttime, when the load on the system is minimal and the tariffs are lower.

This approach will also help optimize the daily consumption schedule, reduce loads during peak hours, and increase the stability of electricity supply.

It is worth noting that the government has presented a draft of changes to the tariff policy for public discussion, covering the period until 2030. The document proposes:

– to implement differentiated tariffs for new groups of consumers, including electric vehicle charging stations and commercial subscribers;
– to clarify the calculation procedure for the population: a fixed tariff will apply for consumption exceeding 700 kilowatt-hours;
– to revise the coefficients that apply at different times of the day:
• replace 0.5 with 0.75;
• replace 1.5 with 1.0.

The discussion of this project is ongoing, and citizens, as well as experts, are invited to send their comments and suggestions.
