In Tajikistan, electricity will now be turned off for all government institutions at 18:00

New rules regarding electricity supply have come into effect in Tajikistan, according to which electricity will be cut off in all budget institutions starting at 18:00, as reported on the Asia-Plus website.

The "Distribution Electric Networks" company of Tajikistan has sent instructions to its branches regarding new restrictions for certain categories of consumers (a copy of this document is available to the Asia-Plus editorial office).

According to the new directives:

- Consumers in the first group with a capacity of up to 5 kW (excluding Dushanbe), including both industrial and non-industrial facilities, must be disconnected from the power grid under the restrictions.

- "Smart meters" will also be disconnected from the electricity accounting system (billing) in the established manner, although the hours of disconnection are not specified.

- Budget organizations will have their electricity supply suspended from 18:00 until the start of the next working day.

- Other state enterprises will also be disconnected from 18:00 until the start of the new working day.

- Street lighting not related to important facilities must be turned off.

- Charging stations for electric vehicles will be disconnected from 18:00 to 22:00.

In a letter signed by the General Director of OJSC "Distribution Electric Networks," Salvi Manodj, on November 27, the necessity of immediate compliance with these directives is emphasized. The duration of the new restrictions is not specified.

The Situation with Electricity

Restrictions on electricity supply in Tajikistan have been in effect since the end of September.

Representatives of the electricity distribution company attribute frequent and prolonged outages to low water levels in the Nurek Reservoir, which is 3 meters lower compared to the same period last year. However, the reason for the decrease in water levels in the reservoir is not specified.

This week, representatives of OJSC "Electric Transmission Distribution Networks" reported that the population of the country (except for Dushanbe) receives electricity from 5:30 to 8:00 and from 17:30 to 21:00.

Nevertheless, residents of the regions report that the electricity is only on for two hours in the morning and evening. In recent days, some areas of Dushanbe have also periodically been without electricity, as reported by the media.
