The city hall confirmed the possibility of resolving the issue
At a meeting of the commission on social issues of the Bishkek City Council, a discussion took place regarding the reduction of tariffs for heat and electricity for new residential complexes. The initiative was put forward by deputy Talaybek Surapbaev.
He noted that gas boilers are being installed in new apartment buildings, yet residents continue to pay for services at actual market prices. Surapbaev proposed that thermal power plants receive profits from connecting new buildings.
The deputy mayor for fuel and energy issues, Nurgazy Kurmanbekov, explained that the CHP sells heat at cost price, while the heating networks receive subsidies from the state budget, which amounts to about 4.5 billion soms annually.
Kurmanbekov added that with the introduction of new technologies and an increase in production capacities, there may be an opportunity to reduce the cost of produced energy, which, in turn, will affect the tariffs.
It is important to note that starting from June 1, 2024, tariffs for thermal energy for the population will increase by 25%, and for hot water — by 39.3%.
Additionally, starting from June 1, 2025, the heating tariff for residential premises up to 80 square meters will rise to 1,950 soms per Gcal, which is 25% higher than the previous value of 1,560 soms per Gcal. Further annual increases in heating tariffs for this category of housing are expected.
