Also participating in the discussion were the akims of the border districts and leaders of the law enforcement agencies of the region. The main focus was on the prospects for developing relations between the two regions after resolving issues related to the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The regional leaders noted that the signing of the border agreement reached by Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon has opened new horizons for cooperation between the Batken and Sughd regions.
During the meeting, measures to strengthen good-neighborly relations and consensus among the population of the border regions were discussed, as well as issues of ensuring security in these territories and priority areas for socio-economic interaction.
Additionally, the parties discussed the completion of the resettlement of residents from settlements that will be exchanged as a result of the delimitation of the border, as well as the completion of the inventory of residential houses and social facilities that fall under the exchange. All processes were carried out successfully and in an atmosphere of mutual understanding.
The leaders also noted that as part of the further demarcation of the border, work will continue on clearing the line of fences, gardens, and commercial facilities, and explanatory work will be conducted among the local population.
