Several government officials, both current and former, have been detained in the city of Osh on suspicion of criminal activity, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs received information that a land plot of 8,000 square meters, intended for social needs, ended up in private ownership as a result of the actions of responsible officials.
Based on the collected materials, a criminal case was initiated under Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning abuse of official position, and necessary investigative actions have begun.
During an operation conducted by the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in conjunction with the Investigative Service of the Osh City Police Department, the deputy director of the Osh branch of the State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy, and Cartography under the Ministry of Agriculture, Sh.K. (born in 1978), and the former head of the Municipal Property Department of the Osh City Hall, S.A. (born in 1968), were detained. The suspects have been placed under arrest.
The independent appraisal organization "Land Reforms South" valued the mentioned plot at 200,000,000 soms, after which it was returned to the management of the municipal property of the Osh City Hall.
Currently, investigative and operational measures are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in this crime.
