A resident of the Batken region, Akbermet Akmatova, with 24 years of experience in sewing, began her career as a seamstress in Russia and Bishkek. She has now organized a small workshop in her home in Batken.

In addition to fulfilling orders, Akbermet also teaches young girls the art of sewing.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, Akmatova shared that she is both a technologist and a designer in the field of sewing. "My husband and I worked abroad for a long time. I sewed in various workshops in Russia, and then in Bishkek and Osh. Now I have been sewing for 24 years, and my small workshop has been operating for 5 years. We live in Batken, and I opened a sewing production right at home. I make jackets, coats for men, women, and children, as well as school uniforms and clothing for newborns.

Orders come in regularly, including from kindergartens and schools. Initially, I worked on old sewing machines. A year ago, I gave up social benefits for my five children and signed a social contract, with which I bought three new sewing machines. This expanded my capabilities. My team includes several girls, some of whom are learning to sew and have already opened their own workshops. On average, my income is about 20,000 soms a month. Right now, I am at home with my youngest child, but I have employees. Usually, before holidays, the number of orders increases; overall, there is plenty of work. My husband does not have a permanent job, but he actively helps me," Akbermet shares her achievements.

Currently, Akmatova is 42 years old and is raising five children. Along with her, 2,847 families in the Batken region have also given up benefits for a year, signing social contracts and receiving 100,000 soms to start their businesses.
