Starting from September 1, 2025, Kyrgyzstan will begin its fourth chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), promoting the motto "25 Years of SCO - A Place for Peace and Prosperity." This slogan reflects the country's intention to strengthen peace, promote sustainable development, and expand economic cooperation. Among the key events in the upcoming period are the SCO summit in Bishkek and the activation of cultural and humanitarian ties between the member states.
At a press conference, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev spoke about the key priorities set by President Sadyr Japarov for Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the SCO:
- Long-term stability. Kyrgyzstan will focus on coordinating efforts to combat security threats affecting SCO countries.
- Economic cooperation. There is a need to accelerate the establishment of effective financial mechanisms, including the SCO Development Bank and investment funds.
- Transport infrastructure. Conditions will be created for the development of international road and rail routes with optimal use of the transit potential of the member states.
- Digitalization. Kyrgyzstan will propose to organize a youth digital forum of the SCO and is ready to actively participate in the implementation of joint initiatives for digital transformation.
