The Deputy Head of the GCRTS, Tolubai Jakishev, stated in an interview with "OshTV" that the initiative for the free replacement of indefinite driver's licenses in Kyrgyzstan will last indefinitely.
Jakishev explained that the document exchange was initially limited to the period from January 15 to February 15, but this restriction has been lifted. As reported by economist.kg, "yesterday the deadline was removed. I urge drivers not to rush: the forms for replacing licenses are being printed in our country, and there will be no shortage." He also added that a medical certificate of form 083 will not be required for the replacement of indefinite licenses.
We remind you that on January 15, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, the head of the Information Policy Service of the President's Administration of the KR, announced in his Facebook post the possibility of extending the campaign for those who do not manage to replace their licenses within the established time frame.
"If someone is unable to make it, additional time will be provided, so there is no need to worry," he emphasized.
As part of the campaign for the exchange of indefinite driver's licenses, it is sufficient to provide two documents: a passport of a citizen of the KR (ID card) and the old driver's license. A certificate of form 083 and a certificate of completion of a driving school are not required for the replacement of licenses without an expiration date. The latter is only necessary for the initial issuance of a license.
The authorities explain the need for a mass replacement of licenses due to several factors: outdated security features of old documents, the spread of counterfeits, their physical wear, as well as the fact that old-style licenses are not digitized and are often not accepted abroad. New licenses will be automatically entered into digital databases and will meet international standards.
The procedure for replacing driver's licenses is available both online and through a personal visit. If the license is displayed in the "Tunduk" system, the application can be submitted through the app without the need to visit the office. In cases where the document is not in the digital system, it is necessary to contact the branches of the GCRTS. Online replacement without a certificate of form 083 will be available starting January 19.
